Pepper Mayhem

November 15, 2016

Every school term we get to pack up lots of fun activities and venture out to international school across the city. For me these classes are my favourite, everything down to planning the classes is really exciting to me (sometimes more so than the children are).

This week I caused mayhem over a pepper, as most of the children thought I was going to make them eat a chilli pepper. I like to make quite complex tasks really simple, and this week we broke a pepper down into simple shapes from the shape to the highlights and shadows. We managed to stare at a pepper for 30 minutes before we eventually ripped it apart to draw the inside (again, this created great hilarity in the classroom). I was really amazed by how quickly they got into really looking at the pepper, not just what they thought they could see.
