Celebrate Tet!

January 5, 2017

Tet is the occasion for Vietnamese to express their respect and remembrance for their ancestors while coming together to welcome the New Year with their beloved family members. This year falls on the year of the Chicken or Rooster.

Every effort is made to help get rid of the bad luck of the old year, by cleaning their homes, polishing every utensil, or even repaint and decorate the house with pink blossoms and kumquat trees, and many other colourful flowers.

Like other Asian countries, Vietnamese believe that the colour of red and yellow will bring good fortune, which explain why these colours can be seen everywhere during Tet.

With Christmas well and truly over, what better way to extend the festive mood and celebrate Tet by decorating your home to help the family invite good fortune.

Follow this link to explore some crafty ideas that will give you and your children plenty of joy while getting involved with the Tet celebrations.
