Inspired by the Surrealist Frottage art of Max Ernst, the students of EIS tapped into their subconscious by creating fantastical monsters. Creating rubbings from the soles of their shoes was a great icebreaker exercise, before they gave a new lease of life to a range of magazine images by using pagoda spires, chickens, pangolins and jewels as the body parts of their inventive army of creatures. Canvas & Wine Yayoi Kasuma
At Canvas & Wine we have been experimenting with multi-media wall hangings inspired by the, great Yayoi Kusama. As one of the most prolific female artists of the 20th and 21st century, Yayoi’s psychedelic work has given us an insight into how she views the world. In homage to Yayoi, we have experimented with colourful bead work, collage, painting, embroidery… and of course, we’ve indulged in lots of wine along the way. Happy International Women's Day!
To celebrate International Women's Day, my students in Mix Art club at EIS (European International School) had a wonderful time making handmade greeting card for their lovely mom. Our lesson was to create flowers in abstract forms with paper cutting and collage techniques. They found a bit tricky to cut the circles and little petals at first but at the end of the class, I think they all mastered that with no problem. Here are some beautiful greeting cards made by my students
